Marketing Your Brand and Staying Relevant in a Changing Environment

  • City Winery 609 Lafayette Street Nashville, TN, 37203 United States (map)

Strategic Hospitality was founded in 2006 and currently holds nine hospitality businesses in Nashville with various concepts that have contributed to the fabric of the city’s dining culture. With a focus on creating places where they want to go that aren’t yet available in the city, owners Benjamin and Max Goldberg have built a restaurant group with a unique and dynamic portfolio.

As a company, Strategic Hospitality has never put emphasis on marketing efforts like market research and advertising. Instead, attention is placed on consistently offering a really great product at a good value with genuine hospitality.

Properties Include:

  • The Patterson House, a sophisticated speakeasy-style cocktail lounge specializing in hand-crafted artisan cocktails

  • Merchants Restaurant, located in a historic building on the corner of 4th and Broadway in downtown Nashville

  • The Catbird Seat, an intimate, interactive and chef-run restaurant

  • Pinewood, a third space, bar and restaurant with six bowling lanes and an outdoor space complete with two dipping pools

  • The Band Box, a 4,000 square-foot outdoor bar and restaurant located in the right field of First Tennessee Park, home of the Nashville Sounds

  • Bastion, a cocktail bar and hangout in Wedgewood Houston

  • Henrietta Red, a convivial barroom and restaurant offering seasonal contemporary cooking and an oyster bar in the heart of Germantown

  • Downtown Sporting Club, 42,000 square-feet of entertainment — from restaurants and bars to axe throwing and hotel rooms — all situated in the heart of Nashville’s neon-lit Broadway strip

Take-Aways:

1. Don’t evaluate what you do 100 percent on the bottom line – evaluate what you do on whether
or not you believe in it.
2. Trending locations aren’t the only answer to a successful business.
3. Market research won’t always give you the answers you need to be successful.

Note: Parking is included in the price of your ticket. Parking attendants will guide you to an on-site, self-park spot at City Winery until on-site self-park spots are filled. A valet will park your car (free) after on-site City Winery spots are full. Follow the signs near Lafayette Street. SP+ parking lot adjacent to City Winery is NOT free.
